Antique Ottoman Turkish 900 Silver Mirror
Mid-Century Handmade Sultan Style (1950s–1960s)
This authentic Ottoman-style Turkish mirror dates to the mid-20th century (circa 1950–1960) and represents a fine example of traditional Turkish silver craftsmanship. Commonly referred to as a Sultan’s Mirror, it reflects the refined artistry and cultural heritage of mid-century Anatolian metalwork.
Crafted using traditional techniques, the mirror features 900 purity stamped silver plating applied to both the front and back over a solid metal core. The reverse side is richly ornamented with embossed wave, tree, and floral motifs, demonstrating exceptional handwork and elegant detailing.
Cultural Heritage
Sultan mirrors hold a special place in Turkish tradition and were historically included in bridal dowries. Designed primarily as a wall mirror, this piece includes a metal hanging chain. In accordance with tradition, it is often displayed with the decorated silver back facing outward, transforming a functional object into a sculptural work of art. Its compact form also allows it to be used as a luxury vanity or handbag mirror.
