Splendid commemorative medal dedicated to the Rome 1960 Olympic Games (XVII Olympiad), made of gilded metal with a glossy finish and rich high-relief details.
Obverse: an elegant allegorical female figure inspired by classical art, with a palm branch and a laurel crown, symbols of victory and glory. In the background the Colosseum is visible. Inscription: “GIOCHI DELLA XVII OLIMPIADE – ROMA MCMLX”.
Upside-down: a dynamic scene with triumphant athletes lifting the winner, a powerful representation of the Olympic spirit and sporting celebration.
