Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Industrial wall clock by PROTOS Industrial, dating from the 1930s, in excellent condition with a steel housing, glass front, 30.5 × 30.5 × 8.5 cm dimensions, 2 kg weight, and a silent battery-powered quartz movement.
Description from the seller
Industrial Wall Clock – PROTOS – 1930s – In excellent condition – No reserve.
Authentic 1930s industrial wall clock by PROTOS, featuring a clear, highly legible dial with bold baton hour markers and robust black hands. Designed for professional and institutional environments, this clock is a strong example of early functionalist industrial design from the interwar period.
The clock retains its original metal housing and glass front, preserving its unmistakable vintage character. The original electric clock motor (typically noisy and unreliable after many decades) has been professionally replaced with a modern quartz battery movement, discreetly mounted at the back. This upgrade provides silent, smooth, and dependable operation, while the front view remains completely original — offering the best of both worlds: historic appearance with modern reliability.
Condition
In excellent vintage condition
Dial clean and well preserved, with only minor, age-appropriate traces
Glass intact, no cracks
Metal housing solid and professionally cleaned
Silent quartz movement in perfect working order
Dimensions
30.5 × 30.5 × 8.5 cm (h × w × d)
Historical context
During the 1930s, PROTOS clocks were widely used in factories, public buildings, workshops, and technical environments across Central Europe. Their sober typography, strong contrast, and robust construction reflect the functionalist ideals that later influenced Bauhaus and modern industrial design. Today, original examples from this period are increasingly scarce and highly appreciated by collectors and interior designers alike.
A powerful and authentic industrial timepiece — a true eye-catcher for lofts, modern interiors, or curated design collections.
Carefully packed and shipped with tracking.
