Elise Eekhout, Whispers of Spring, a 49 × 49 cm mixed-media on wooden panel, original edition, painted in 2025, depicting nature in a multicolour palette (orange, yellow, green, pink and blue); signed and hand signed, sold with frame, direct from the artist, with a Certificate of Origin, condition new.
Description from the seller
This mixed-media artwork 'Lentefluistering' explores the fragile dialogue between nature, language and time. Layers of handwritten text, paper collage and painterly textures are combined with bold typographic words that partially emerge and dissolve into the landscape. What initially appears as a lush natural scene reveals itself as a palimpsest of memories, thoughts and fragments of language.
The handwritten texts are deliberately not fully legible. They function as traces—echoes of human presence—rather than messages to be decoded. By layering large typographic words over these intimate markings, the artist creates tension between what is spoken aloud and what remains whispered or hidden.
This work reflects the artist’s background in graphic design, where typography and composition play a central role, while embracing the freedom and imperfection of painting. The result is a work that shifts between abstraction and meaning, inviting the viewer to slow down, look closely, and form a personal interpretation.
Each layer contributes to the sense of time passing: growth, erosion, memory and renewal coexist within the image.
