China, Qing Dynasty, Kangxi
18th century
Height: 18 cm
Diameter: 21 cm

Vase of flared form with a swollen body and a slightly constricted neck, resting on a straight foot. The porcelain is decorated in cobalt blue underglaze.

The body is adorned with a continuous pattern of plum blossoms (méihua) left in white on a blue crackle-glaze background, the emblematic motif of porcelains called "prunus on ice". This theme symbolizes renewal and winter resilience.
