Batavische Arcadia by J. van Heemskerk, a Dutch-language deluxe edition (1756) published in ’s-Gravenhage by Ottho van Thol, bound in leather, 656 pages, 21 × 14 cm, in near-pristine condition with copper engravings and an ex-libris.

J. van Heemskerk - Batavian Arcadia, wherein: Under the leafy work of fondness, trade was conducted; Of the origin of Old Batavia, Freedom of the former and the succeeding Batavians, Free Sea, sea-foundings, finders of hidden treasures, forfeitures of goods, the extraction of truth by pins (penal measures), the inequity of the laxity of judicial strolls, with the causes of that, and remedies there against; together with other such weighty matters more. By the honorable Sir J. Van Heemskerk, counselor in the High Court of Holland &c. Latest edition enlarged with fine illustrations, and a German translation of all the foreign languages.

Condition: very fine / excellent - very neat original binding with very solid hinges; very neat, compact and sturdy block (as new!); very neat, fresh and white pages (almost no spots or stains: as new, so neat, fresh and white paper!). Complete.
NB: some of the photos are slightly yellowed by dusk; the paper is, in reality, very fresh and white!
Equipped with the fine metaphorical title engraving and all the fold-out prints.
