Description from the seller
Bronze Wall Relief – Head of Christ – Signed & Numbered
In excellent condition – No reserve.
Powerful and expressive bronze wall relief depicting the Head of Christ, executed in high relief against a cross-shaped background. The sculptural modeling of the face—eyes closed, crowned with thorns—conveys deep serenity and solemnity. The surface is enriched by a naturally developed green and brown patina, characteristic of aged bronze and highly appreciated by collectors.
Cast in solid bronze 2n half 19th century, this is a substantial and weighty object, clearly conceived as a lasting devotional or artistic work rather than a decorative piece. The reverse is signed and numbered.
A striking and contemplative object, suitable for a religious interior, a quiet reflection space, or a curated art or ecclesiastical collection.
Provenance
From the inventory of a church in Verviers (Belgium), cleared after the severe floodings of 2024.
