Wurlitzer 1800 for sale. As a new retiree electical engineer and in 2018 I bought this then dilapidated jukebox, not played in over 20 years as a renovation project. Started by dismantling everything so that the wooden frame was clean. Thoroughly washed to remove all dust and ingrained nicotine. Reinforced the bottom plate, new wheels, sanded down existing flaked veneer and re-veneered (walnut). Sanded and painted other surfaces, grilles and covers. New red background foil. Some new door locks/keys All aluminum moldings/trim cleaned and polished. All chrome to Dala chrome in Borlänge for re-chroming. The speaker grill cleaned and polished. New pilasters. Decorative shelf assembly new replica with new decals. New ballasts, fluorescent tubes and glow starters. New full transformer 230/110 V. New power cord with grounded plug. Grounding metal strips in the wooden chassis replaced with cable (yellow/green). The amplifier has been completely renovated, the chassis has been sanded and painted with rust protection, varnished. All components are new except for some coils, the low-voltage transformer, tube sockets, a power resistor and some switches. The high-voltage transformer and the output transformer (Hamond) are new. All tubes, capacitors and resistors are new. All wiring has been replaced. The selenium rectifier has been replaced with a diode bridge and voltage regulator. The fader switch function has been disconnected. (used when connecting extra speakers.) Speakers 12” Midrange (Jensen vintage alnico) and 4” tweeter (Visaton) and the crossover filter are new. The two 12” basses are original.Coin mechanism (slug rejector and coin register) cleaned, contact surfaces washed with electronics cleaner, lubricated and adjusted. Only takes US coins. Selector drum and junction box. Disassembled and washed, chassis sanded and anti-rust painted, painted. Contact surfaces washed with electronics cleaner, lubricated and adjusted. Link and lever assembly. Everything disassembled in every detail, cleaned, sanded, polished. Bearings, shafts and slides greased. Reassembled and adjusted. Cassis mounting plate. Disassembled and washed, chassis sanded and anti-rust painted, painted. Record lift mechanism. Everything disassembled in every detail, cleaned, sanded, polished. Gearbox to the motor disassembled and cleaned, new grease, bearings greased. New motor mounts. Reassembled, lubricated and adjusted. Record carousel. Everything disassembled in every detail, cleaned, sanded, polished. Reassembled. The bow with the turntable, tonearm and mechanics. Everything disassembled in every detail, cleaned, sanded, polished, varnished. Contact surfaces washed with electronics cleaner. New bronze bearing bushing (sleev and bushing assembly 59770) new motor suspension rubber/metal. New pulley (Pulley 59459) for 50 Hz. New Cobra pickup from Victory Glass USA. Selector switch assembly. . Everything disassembled in every detail, cleaned, sanded, polished. Contact surfaces washed with electronics cleaner. The switch for the A-D buttons replaced (used from the USA) Reassembled on the newly chromed front, lubricated and adjusted. All buttons new. Reassembled all parts in the wooden frame together with a lot of new screws, nuts etc., connected, adjusted all clearances, switches, limit positions etc. Tested all functions, re-adjustments. Now the box works and sounds good. After many hours and many challenges, it is finished and I have nothing more to do. Now the fun is over.
