for sale Jupiter-12 35mm f/2.8, a Soviet wide-angle lens (copy of the prewar Zeiss Biogon) known for its symmetric optical design with a very protruding rear element. this unit is in the
Attention: unlike the M39 screw version, this external bayonet version does not have the integrated focusing helicoid (focus is handled by the camera or the adapter). The protruding rear element makes this lens troublesome on many digital cameras: it can strike the sensor or the internal parts of the shutter/box mirror. On mirrorless APS-C or full-frame (such as Sony a7 or Fujifilm X) cameras, a specific adapter is required (Kiev/Contax to NEX/FX) and one must carefully check physical compatibility to avoid damage.
Optically it is highly regarded for its central sharpness and virtually no distortion (typical of Biogon), with a vintage look and distinctive bokeh when wide open. The specimen comes complete with its original black Bakelite case, typical of the Soviet era.
