Mario Vellani Marchi was an Italian painter, set designer, and illustrator, known for his refined style and his ability to synthesize forms and colors with elegance. In 1924 he was invited to participate in the Venice Biennale, and in the following years he would take part in eleven more editions. As a painter, he developed an expressive language close to Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, characterized by fluid brushstrokes, harmonious tonalities, and careful atmospheric rendering. He painted mainly landscapes, seascapes, and urban views, often inspired by Italian locales. His painting style is recognizable for the delicacy of light and the sense of compositional balance.
