I present to you in this auction a portable Toshiba RT 8740S radio cassette player, made in Japan in 1973. It is considered a rare and distinctive model. The device is in good external condition for its age of approximately 50 years, with normal signs of use. The antenna is original, present, and can be fully extended. The mechanical movement of the speakers works perfectly; they can be connected together, separated, or positioned sideways without any issues. The holder that connects the speakers to the main unit is present and also works perfectly. The device has been tested and works fully; however, there is one point I do not know the reason for: the radio only works when any cassette deck button is pressed. • The selector switch between cassette, radio, and phono modes is broken, but it can still be moved and switched between modes. • One screw of the external cassette door cover is missing. • There is a small crack on the rear corner of the left speaker, but it does not affect its operation or how it is mounted to the unit at all (please see the photos).
