Description from the seller
1930s IXU / NAP Medical Electrotherapy Set – Complete French Case with Glass Electrodes
This rare vintage medical device is an original French electrotherapy set from the interwar period (circa 1930s), presented in its portable case with a striking purple velvet interior. It is a beautiful, highly collectible example of early “électricité médicale” equipment.
The control unit carries the maker’s plate marked “Condensateurs IXU – Électricité Médicale,” while the panel is labeled “NAP,” indicating original branded components typical of period professional apparatus. Controls include clearly marked voltage ranges, polarity selection, and an adjustable intensity dial.
Inside the lid, a rich assortment of original clear blown-glass electrodes is neatly fitted: mushroom, comb, curved, straight, and other specialist applicators, each with metal connectors. Materials include glass, metal, bakelite, textile wiring, and a leatherette-covered wooden case—well crafted and visually impressive.
Condition is good for its age, with light wear to the case, patina on metal parts, and minor cosmetic marks consistent with careful historical use. One glass instrument is missing; otherwise, the set remains largely complete as shown in the photos and makes an outstanding display piece for collectors of medical antiques, scientific instruments, or early electrical technology.
Dimensions (case closed): Height 16.5 cm (6.5 in), Length 37 cm (14.6 in), Depth 29 cm (11.4 in).
Please note: the device has not been tested and is sold as a collectible/display item.
