Description from the seller
An important and spectacular advertising poster for 'Campari', the famous design conceived by Leonetto Cappiello, the undisputed master of international poster art between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Perfect condition, 1950s edition, 140 x 100 cm
The artwork depicts the famous split figure—half red and half white—holding a Campari bottle, set against a purple background, one of the most iconic and recognizable images of historic Italian advertising.
The poster, large in size (140 × 100 cm), is offset-printed and intended for display, with strong visual and color impact. At the bottom appears the inscription “Davide Campari & C. – Milano”, a direct reference to the historic Milanese company Campari.
Note: this is a second edition, subsequent to the historical original, printed by offset, probably produced for decorative or promotional reissues of the second half of the twentieth century. It is not, therefore, the first lithographic edition from that era, but an official, high-quality reprint.
Although it is a second edition, the poster is very rare in this large format, difficult to find on the market, and is particularly sought after by collectors of Campari posters, Italian advertising graphics, and works associated with the name of Cappiello.
Condition: overall good, with normal signs of wear and age from mounting (slight warping, minor marks at the edges), as shown in the photo.
Printing technique: offset.
Period: the second half of the 20th century.
Dimensions: 140 × 100 cm.
Sold as shown in the images.
The graphic rendering, however, indicates a decorative reprint from the 20th century, intended for the furniture and graphic-collecting market.
