Gijsbert Hanekroot - Frank Zappa, Amsterdam, 1976

Frank Zappa during an interview, Pulitzer Hotel, Amsterdam, 1977. Most people aren't particularly fond of the press. Frank Zappa, however, was an exception—he could talk for hours, passionately explaining his vision. Digital C-print on 210 g/m2 Fujifilm fine art paper, signed and blind stamped. 30 x 40 cm. Edition 7 of 200. Shipped well packaged. Gijsbert Hanekroot (Brussels, 1945) started his career in 1969 and worked for magazines and newspapers in the 1970s. His career as a photojournalist fits in perfectly with the explosion of the rock scene and he masterfully documented this golden age of music history - and photographed many of the greatest icons of the time. Gijsbert strived to capture images that revealed the man behind the musician. Trying to express a deeper truth about his subjects resulted in portraits that are natural and intimate, relaxed and sincere. The photographer is represented by galleries in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Madrid, London, Bologna and Schiedam, the Netherlands.
