Fine gourd shaped white nephrite jade pendant elephant –China- 20th Century
On offer is a good quality Chinese white nephrite jade pendant, shaped as a gourd and finely carved on both sides. At the front side many symbolism elaborated in detail, like an elephant walking in ruyi (as you wish) grass. The elephant bears a vase with lingzhi fungus (for long life) on his back. In top a flying bat and peaches for happiness and long life. At the back side also a large bat at the bottom and more lucky characters and symbolism. A fine example!
Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. All our jade is obtained in China. An excellent and rare piece, very suitable as an addition to your collection or to present as a gift. Please see test results and pictures.
