Scale - Cast iron, Calacatta marble

Very decorative balance scale from the 19th century, made of solid cast iron with a richly detailed pedestal and two marble scales. The pedestal is designed in a neoclassical style, with embossed ornaments, including masks, floral motifs, and seahorse-like figures, referencing the symbolism and aesthetics of that period.

The cast iron construction is heavy and stable, indicating use in a commercial or pharmacy setting where precision and durability are essential. The marble scales rest on finely crafted supports and are suitable for weighing solids or weights. The central column and arms are symmetrically built and show a refined balance between function and decoration.

The marble slabs are 23.5cm x 23.5cm in size.
