Italian school (XVII) - San Bartolomeo

An antique Italian painting from the 17th century.
Oil on canvas depicting the religious subject of Saint Bartholomew, of excellent painterly quality.
A work of beautiful size and proportion adorned with an antique wooden frame, not contemporary, carved and gilded.
The painting depicts the Saint in profile with the knife in his hands, a symbol of his martyrdom (see photo).
A work of great character, with a dark background, characterized by a skilful use of light.
The painting has undergone conservative restoration work, relining, replacement of the frame and retouching of the color in several points (see photo).
In good condition.
