Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Measurements with frame: 66 × 101 cm
Magnificent maritime-themed composition, executed with great luminous sensitivity and technical mastery. The work depicts a fishing boat stranded on the shore, with an open horizon and a vibrant sky filled with clouds that add air and depth to the scene.
The painter uses a luminous and Mediterranean palette, dominated by the blues of the sea and sky, the reddish ochres of the earth, and the broken whites of the hull, creating a harmonious balance of warm and cool tones. The brushwork is loose and direct, yet always precise, giving the work a natural freshness and a fully coastal atmosphere.
The treatment of light, clear and enveloping, places the painting within Mediterranean realism or Levantine luminism, a movement inherited from Sorolla's legacy and continued throughout the 20th century by painters such as Genaro Lahuerta, Pedro de Valencia, or the artists of the Alcoy and Jávea School.
The artist manages to capture not only the shape of the vessel but also the sense of quiet and serenity after the maritime journey, with a balance between the everyday and the poetic.
Work of excellent execution, characteristic of mid-20th century Spanish realism, with a masterful command of light and composition.
