Historical notes
A long history behind this very charming little figure chosen by Michelin to represent and distinguish it from its competitors, the Bidendum has undergone several aesthetic changes since it was invented in 1898 by Edouard Michelin. After seeing a stack of tires artistically piled at the 1894 Universal and Colonial Exposition in Lyon, he thought, 'With a couple of arms, it would look like a little man.' This phrase was the magic spell that gave birth to the Michelin little man, who remains unchanged to this day, still in his splendor and always loved and appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors.
This is an authentic Michelin advertising figurine/statue that was given as a gadget to authorized Michelin dealers. This type of gadget was larger than the typical gadgets circulating at the time. It is new and never used or displayed, always kept in its original box. The figurine is made of resin/polyester and finely hand-painted with a beautiful glossy enamel finish. The base is made of velvety fabric in a blue color.
