Description from the seller

Antique Cedarwood Chinese Buffet Cabinet
This remarkable piece of Chinese heritage: an authentic, handmade buffet cabinet from the early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920). This piece of furniture, originating from the estate of a renowned Chinese antique dealer, is made of solid Cedarwood (Baimu) in the famous style of the Ningbo region (Zhejiang province).

Spirituality and Symbolism
Behind the aesthetics of this cabinet lies a deep spiritual meaning. In Chinese tradition, a piece of furniture is not merely a utilitarian object, but a carrier of harmony.
• The Fenghuang (Phoenix): The refined, gilded carving depicts the Phoenix, the symbol of feminine energy (Yin), virtue, and grace. It stands for a new beginning and enduring prosperity.
• Color: The classic red "oxblood" lacquer on the inside attracts positive energy (Qi) and protects the cabinet’s contents from negative influences.

Unique Feature: Removable Panels
A fascinating technical and spiritual detail are the panels in the doors that can be removed from the top. This is a hallmark of high-quality traditional craftsmanship. Spiritually, it symbolizes 'openness' and the free flow of energy. Practically, it allowed the owner to clean, repair, or replace the panels without forcing the entire door structure—a sign that this piece is built to last for generations.

Restoration and Authenticity
• Locks: To make the cabinet fully functional and safe for daily use again, we had all locks expertly repaired/replaced by a specialist. The invoice for these works is included in the documentation and accompanies the lot.
• Provenance: The Label on the Back
On the back of the cabinet there is an authentic transport label from the Kees Koopman firm. This label is important historical proof of the journey the piece has taken within Europe. It confirms that the furniture was part of a serious collection or acquired through a skilled antique dealer, with no expense spared to move the piece in top condition. Such labels form the “family tree” of an antique object and are highly valued by collectors as proof of authenticity and careful handling.

Specifications:
• Material: Solid Cedarwood (Baimu), gilded woodcarving, authentic lacquer.
• Dimensions: 82 cm (W) x 40 cm (D) x 75 cm (H).
• Layout: Equipped with a drawer (12 cm high) and a lower compartment (37 cm high).

• Condition: Excellent antique condition with a beautiful patina. The doors rotate on original hinges.

Extra information:
This piece is not only an investment in antiques, but also brings a touch of Eastern calm and history into your interior. The invoice for the locks also serves as a guarantee of the craftsmanship of the recent restoration.

Shipping:
It weighs 27 kg
Due to its weight and size, it must be transported on a pallet. It is shipped very carefully packaged and insured. We use bubble wrap, foam, and cardboard for a secure journey.

P.S.: the lamp and props are only for photo purposes and are not included
