Old icon of Christ Pantocrator – 19th century – Tempera on panel

This original icon of Christ Pantocrator, made with tempera on panel, originates from Eastern Europe (post-Byzantine tradition) and dates from the second half of the 19th / early 20th century.

It depicts Christ in a blessing gesture, with the Gospel in his left hand, against a gilded background with a radiant halo. This icon has a folk character and was produced in a traditional icon-painting workshop.

Condition appropriate for its age: natural patina, wear to the paint layer, cracks, edge wood loss and signs of prior insect damage. The object has undergone no modern restoration or repainting – the authenticity is fully preserved.

Dimensions: 35 × 25 cm

The icon is a valuable collectible and an interesting element for historic interior design.
