Jan Pauwels started in 1993 designing and realizing custom lighting. He founded Random Light, a company with 4 employees who support him in making and installing the lighting designs.. Pauwels gained fame with the design of his Citadel lamps for the Dutch label Quasar.

His way of designing is very characteristic. His designer lighting often consists of aluminium and brass, with many points of light. He brings transparent aluminium structures to life so that more attention is drawn to the light. The transparency also brings a kind of calm to the space, which remains intact. Small light bubbles give the space a fairy-tale touch that completely bewilders spectators. Sounds magical, doesn’t it? Each lamp, every fixture is handmade in Jan Pauwels’ workshop.
