Description from the seller
Vintage lamp pair – ceramic & brass | newly wired | new shades | mid-century style
Elegant pair of lamps, each with a heavy dark brown ceramic base, warm patinated brass, and new, color-matched, highly translucent lampshades. Both lamps were professionally rewired, and the original brass sockets with beautiful, authentic patina were deliberately preserved.
The ceramic feet rest on decorative brass bases and are capped on top with a brass cap—the detail gives the ensemble a high-quality, sculptural effect. The glaze is kept a deep, dark tone and forms a striking contrast to the warm metal hues. The lamp bases were purchased separately and are offered here as a pair. They are identical in construction but differ in the color of the ceramic—one piece of ceramic is lighter than the other. The wiring on both is with a high-quality fabric cord—one marled in black-and-white, the other marled in silver-gray. The darker lamp has a fine, unobtrusive hairline crack in the glaze on its left side, which has been touched up. The other—the lighter—lamp has a small dent from the ceramic firing process, and this is not unusual for ceramics from this period.
The base with socket is 31 cm high; the lamp overall, with the tall shade, is 57 cm. The shade has a diameter of 23 cm.
The cylindrical lampshades:
The fabric is very translucent and features a high-contrast floral pattern in current brown, ochre, and natural tones. When illuminated, it emits a soft, atmospheric light – ideal for a cohesive room styling in the living room or bedroom, on dressers, or as a pair on the left and right of a sideboard.
Technology & Condition
– Newly wired, E27 socket for up to 250 volts
– Reused original brass fittings
– Ceramics, brass in very good overall condition
- New umbrellas
For classification / Manufacturer:
A definite attribution to a specific manufacturer is not currently secured. However, style, material combination, and workmanship strongly point to a German or European mid-century context (1950s–1970s). Comparable pieces can be found, among others, in the milieu of high-quality ceramic and lighting manufacturers of that era. Therefore, a more precise attribution cannot be guaranteed, but it can be clearly categorized by style.
A rare pair of lamps that enriches design-minded interiors.
