Designed specifically for Canon EOS cameras with APS-C sensors (EF-S mount), it offers an equivalent focal length of about 29-216mm in 35mm terms, covering from wide-angle to moderate telephoto in a single compact and lightweight lens (about 455g).

This model is equipped with Canon's optical image stabilization (IS), capable of compensating up to 4 stops of shake, a fundamental feature for achieving sharp handheld shots, especially at longer focal lengths or in low-light conditions.
