Description of the work
In this work with the evocative title, “Hortus Conclusus,” the artist stages a botanical explosion that is, at the same time, a refined game of concealments. The canvas is a labyrinth of vibrant flora and saturated colors from which emerge, almost like fruits among the foliage, anatomical details and concealed gazes.

The work fully embodies the author's contemporary Symbolist style, characterized by a tight composition and an almost Flemish attention to natural detail. The ability to fuse the human element with the plant element creates a hypnotic image, which turns the medieval concept of the 'walled garden' into a modern metaphor of the psyche and intimacy.

Marco Ercoli was born in Rome in 1986. He earned a diploma from the Art High School.
