Description from the seller
This beautifully crafted Erard piano comes from London and was built in 1870. The piano features fine ornamentation and a finish in walnut veneer. The sound is typical of that era—intimate and restrained. Perfect for smaller spaces.
A few years ago the piano was completely restored in Germany:
- new strings
- new tuning pins
- new hammer heads
- new damp felts
- the ivory keyboard key coverings have been replaced with plastic
- the piano has been finished with a modern lacquer
The pinblock is in excellent condition. Hairline cracks are visible in the pinblock and on the soundboard, but do not affect the tone. Larger cracks were filled during the restoration.
Tuned to 432 Hz.
Pianos from this period are more sensitive than modern pianos due to their construction and therefore require more tuning visits for optimal tuning. A report from piano technician Jonno van den Beuken can be seen in the photos.
For transport I’m happy to arrange with a carrier.
