Tom Lanoye - Sprakeloos - 2009

Contrary to what is stated in the colophon of the deluxe edition of 'Sprakeloos,' Handboekerij De Pers in Antwerp did not produce 40 luxury copies of the book, but only 34. Four of them (Roman-numbered) remained off the market, thirty were intended for enthusiasts. Those copies would have sold quickly. And rarely does another one surface. Except this time.

The book, bound in alum-tawed white goatskin with white endpapers, sits in a slipcase made of Zaans board, with the title in white-inlaid relief on the spine and able to be closed with a white leather ribbon.
Just like every copy, this one also contains an authentic photo from the Lanoye family archive. On the reverse side, the photo is signed by Lanoye and accompanied by a handwritten caption.
The author numbered ('23') and signed the book himself on the reverse side of the endpaper.

Aside from the beautiful story, a copy to drool over.
