Description from the seller
Toons (contemporary artist, France) created “MONEY IS LIFE” (2026), an original mixed-media artwork, hand-painted and produced on an authentic one-dollar U.S. bill. This work is offered in a limited edition 1/25, signed by the artist, in excellent condition, in a pop art / street art style, exploring the themes of financial value, social satire, and identity shaped by money.
MONEY IS LIFE
Edition: 1/25
Reference: MK-116-01-2026
Original work created entirely by hand in a mixed-media technique (acrylic and Posca marker) on an authentic 1-dollar US bill (USD).
MONEY IS LIFE distorts the iconic image of Mr. Krabs, an emblematic figure of popular culture, to make it a direct and admitted symbol of contemporary fascination with wealth. Wide smile, proud claws, a conquering stance: the character embodies here an unfiltered vision of a world where money is no longer merely a tool, but a true identity.
Dominated by bold typography — MONEY — accompanied by the message 'is life', the work transforms the banknote into a visual slogan, both ironic and brutal. Toons stages a modern confession: that of a society where financial value influences choices, relationships, and sometimes even the perception of happiness.
By diverting a banknote, the artist creates a tension between cartoonish humor and social critique. The composition plays with the codes of pop art and street art to reveal a contemporary truth: money becomes a universal language, an almost instinctive belief.
An incisive, hard-hitting and deliberately satirical play, oscillating between ridicule and lucidity, where money is transformed into a visual manifesto on the modern religion of capital.
