Cigarette box - Silver - 800 silver and vermeil

Refined collector's cigarette case (also usable as a cigarette holder) made in solid silver with 800 fineness. The object, weighing 65 grams, is an excellent example of continental silverware dating from the Belle Époque period (late 19th - early 20th century). It stands out for the extraordinary quality of the details and for the precious two-tone finish.

Artistic Execution:

Lid: It features a rich repoussé decoration with foliate scrolls, flowers and shell motifs. At the center, a gilded medallion stands out with a finely chased mythological scene depicting deities and classical figures in motion (likely a reference to the Triumph of Galatea or scenes from classical myth).

Sides: The edges are decorated with a continuous geometric motif of flowers and crosses, inscribed with extreme precision.

Interior (Vermeil): The inside is entirely lined with a sumptuous original gilding (vermeil), a technique used to protect the silver from oxidation and to give the object a regal appearance when opened.
