Description from the seller
Antique liqueur set made of ruby-colored glass with a carafe and 5 glasses, hand-blown, circa 1900
Item description
Antique liqueur or table service in ruby-colored (cranberry) glass, created around the turn of the century (approx. 1890–1910), most likely from the Bohemian/central European region.
The set consists of:
1 carafe made of hand-blown, spiral-ribbed ruby glass with period metal mounts (pour spout, lid and handle, presumably silver-plated metal or tin)
5 matching liqueur glasses made of identical glass with the same spiral structure
The glass color is uniform and deep red, typical for high-quality cranberry glass of this period, where the coloring was achieved through metal additives (historically often gold)
manufacture & classification
fully hand-blown glass
visible pontil scars on the bottoms of the glasses and the carafe, fine air bubbles the size of a pinhead in the glass, typical for historic glassmaking, metal mountings worked by hand, without modern threads, seals or glue, slight irregularities in fit between glass and metal are period-typical and emphasize authenticity
Stylistically placed between late Historicism and early Art Nouveau.
Dimensions:
Carafe height: approx. 22 cm
Glass height: approx. 6 cm
Condition
overall good vintage condition, all glasses present and original, four glasses with minimal rim chipping, no cracks
no repairs, age-related wear and patina on the metal mounts
The condition corresponds to an age of over 100 years and does not affect stability or collector value.
Special features
original ensemble, no modern combination
decorative and at the same time interesting for collectors
suitable for collectors of antique glass, Art Nouveau, and tableware/liqueur sets
Shipping
Very carefully packaged, insured shipping with tracking.
Pickup by arrangement is also possible.
