Volvo V70 R manual, 1997, 250 HP, 2319 cc, silver, 134,850 km, Madrid Spanish registration, chassis YV1LS5002W2499837, five‑speed manual transmission, petrol, MOT valid to 15 September 2024.
Description from the seller
Volvo V70 R with 250 HP, manual transmission, in perfect condition.
As a replacement for the popular Volvo 850 T5 R, Volvo introduced in May 1997 the new V70 R models. They came equipped with a special Alcantara/leather upholstery with a diamond pattern on the seats, which in this unit is in perfect condition given its low mileage. Likewise, as differentiating elements from the rest of the range, they feature blue-colored dashboard instrument dials, and a larger front air intake for a redesigned intercooler, since a bigger turbo was added to increase power to 250 hp and a maximum torque of 35 Nm. As a bonus, this unit has a five-speed manual gearbox, and they also come standard with a viscous limited-slip differential and a redesigned suspension with a lower ride height and a firmer tuning.
History
This unit was originally sold in Spain and still retains its original Madrid license plate from 1997. It was initially used regularly by its owners, but it ended up parked in a garage for many years with little movement. In 2019 it was purchased by its current owner, who carried out a complete overhaul and subsequently fitted new tires. Since then it has covered barely 3,000 kilometers.
Mechanics
In perfect condition, the B5234T4 engine which belongs to the V70 R AWD series. This is a 2.3 L (2319 cc) inline-five engine. It has a bore of 81 mm (3.2 in) and a stroke of 90 mm (3.5 in) with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. It is turbocharged and features a larger intercooler, producing 250 CV (184 kW; 247 hp) at 6000 rpm and a torque of 350 N⋅m (260 lb⋅ft) at 2400–5000 rpm. It is equipped with a Bosch Motronic 4.3 engine management system and comes standard with a TD04HL-18T turbo.
bodywork
In completely original condition, in a nice silver color. It is in perfect condition, with no signs of rust or corrosion and does not require any kind of treatment or painting.
Interior
In original condition, with original upholstery exclusive to this series in a beautiful dark color, blending Alcantara and leather fabrics with its handsome diamond pattern, with the interior in perfect condition.
The car runs perfectly, the tires were replaced seven years ago, but since then it has hardly been driven, the vehicle being parked most of the time in the garage. Therefore, with the timing belt replacement that was carried out, along with oils and filters, the car can operate under its own power to go anywhere. The engine runs perfectly, the gearbox has the correct, firm, and precise feel. There are no fluid leaks of any kind. It starts perfectly when cold and when hot. The electrical system works correctly and the power windows, radio, and air conditioning work without problems.
Pickup

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
