Antique vanity chest from circa 1900, made of solid wood with brass fittings, featuring an interior mirror and measuring 34 × 25 × 15 cm (weight 2.5 kg), produced in France.

Vanity chest with interior mirror. France, late 19th – early 20th century (c. 1880–1920). Solid wood, probably walnut or stained mahogany, with a paneled top and decorative perimeter moulding. Stepped moulded base. Brass lock and escutcheon. Plain wooden interior, preserving the original folding mirror, with aged silvering and partial losses typical of its age. Construction using traditional joinery visible at the corners. Back composed of solid boards. Hardware appropriate to the period. Common type of vanity chest or document box for bourgeois domestic use.

Condition of preservation
Good structural condition. Surface wear, small marks and finish loss consistent with use and the passage of time. Mirror with oxidation of the silvering. No key (see images to get a proper idea of the condition).
