2017 Frédéric Magnien "Les Seuvrées" - Gevrey Chambertin - 3 Bottles (0.75L)

Winery Frédéric Magnien was born in 1969 and represents the 5th generation of winegrowers in the Magnien family. From 1987 to 1991, he worked at his father Michel Magnien's estate in Morey Saint-Denis. In 1995, he founded his own estate, Frédéric Magnien. At the time, he didn't own any vineyards of his own, so he sourced his grapes from other winegrowers and selected vineyards with vines that were at least 40 years old. This ensures grapes of high quality and intensity. This allows him to produce a wide variety of Burgundy's finest terroirs under his own label. Vineyard The Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, south of Dijon, is the highest village in the Côte de Nuits. In 1847, by royal decree of King Louis Philippe, the name Chambertin was added to Gevrey, officially becoming Gevrey-Chambertin. Seuvrées comes from the Latin word "Separatas." This is because the plot was divided into two by the villages of Gevrey and Morey. Our "Seuvrées" plot is located south of the village of Gevrey, below the "Les Mazoyères" or "Charmes" Grands Crus plots. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil containing marl mixed with round clods of varying sizes and stones. Harvesting is entirely manual, and the grapes are completely destemmed. Cold skin maceration, followed by fermentation, is followed by aging in barrels for 14-18 months.
