Wine accessory - Metal

Elegant antique wirework basket manufactured around 1900, made of finely woven metal and originally silvered. The basket features twisted handles and a decorative rim and bottom. This type was used at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century as a wine-serving basket. The open construction and refined craftsmanship are characteristic of the Victorian/Edwardian era. The surface shows a beautiful, authentic patina, with the silvering partly worn, appropriate to age and use. No silver assay marks present. It concerns silver-plated metal (silverplate) and not solid silver. Normal wear and patina. Silvering partly disappeared.
