GOIN – I SPRAY FOR YOU
Goin, street artist with a minimalist style for a strong message
Despite similarities with Banksy, isolating Goin as a copycat would be quite reductive. The references are there, his responsiveness and objectivity are relevant and supported by solid culture and an effective line. All of this quickly makes one forget the English-speaking artist across the Channel. Ready to travel across countries and rub shoulders with the difficulties of the Greek people, the hypocrisy of the UN and Geneva, Goin creates where his support will be most appreciated.
In his choices of representation one will distinguish the great powers of the CAC40 or the G20, the destitute, the cornered and their social daily life, junk food, reality TV, money as king, the dominant/dominated relationship, weapons, war… Our plagues are definitively his inspiration to invite us to reflect on our votes, our life choices and ideals. He travels and shares ideas, he discovers and bears witness to a enormity that will lead him to paint messages full of sensitivity and hope for peoples who today only live under corruption and dictatorship.
Goin distorts icons, slogans that have become landmarks. Ronald terrorist, Putin in Pussy Riot: “Putty riot” and Lady Gaza, the Statue of Liberty revisited to address foreign current events brought back to our Western culture. Goin educates as much as he criticizes and that’s where the balance is well found. All of his creations stem from a truth more or less hidden. The Danaïdes of Fukushima unfortunately express well the endless work that the Fukushima reactors will entail.
