Description from the seller
Silver sculpture 925 – Cornucopia with fruits – Florence – Italy, 20th century – 276 g
Decorative silver sculpture depicting a cornucopia (horn of plenty) with a three-dimensional composition of fruits including grapes, pears, apples, pineapple, berries and foliage.
The main part reproduces a wicker-like braided basket, created by casting, chasing, and manual assembly of the individual elements. The plastic rendering of the fruits is detailed and voluminous, with high-relief workmanship.
Italian artisanal production traceable to the Tuscan goldsmithing tradition of the second half of the 20th century.
⸻
Punzonatura
On the base are the following marks:
• 925 → Sterling silver (92.5% pure silver)
• FI 552 → Hallmark identifying the silversmith registered with the Florence Chamber of Commerce (post 1968 system)
• R in a square cartouche → Factory/maker’s mark
The hallmark confirms Italian production, province of Florence, compliant with current regulations.

Weight
• Overall weight: 276 g
Condition

The subject of the cornucopia, a symbol of prosperity and abundance, was frequently used in Italian artistic silverware in the 20th century for decorative objects in the mid-to-upper range.
The quality of the weave, the plastic rendering of the fruits, and the construction complexity indicate non-industrial production, but made in a specialized workshop.
Piece suitable for collectors of artistic silverware and Italian decorative objects.
