Italy, Cantù model linen tablecloth, new and unused, measuring 240 × 280 cm.
Description from the seller
Exquisite tablecloth that is part of a high-artisan Italian collection from the 1980s/1990s. The item is a warehouse find, i.e., an era object never used, never washed, and still stored in its original sealed packaging.
Fabric: high-quality Mistolino (Linen/Cotton), crisp, durable, and in natural white color.
Workmanship: The ruffle is entirely decorated with a high insertion of Cantù Lace (tombolo work) performed strictly by hand. The design (Model Art. 673) features complex floral motifs with relief work and elegant scrolls.
Dimensions: standard (indicated as "m.l." on the label).
Guarantee and Authenticity Elements
Control stamp: Present numbered label from the "Commissione Tutela Lino", certifying the quality and origin of the fiber.
Original seals: The packaging still bears the epoch price in lire (415,000 lire), testimony to its high commercial value already at the time of production.
Documentation: Includes an informational sheet with the diagram of the artisanal design.
Condition of Preservation
The item is new and sealed. Despite its age, no halos or damp spots are visible through the packaging, making it a rare piece for its state of preservation.
Notes for the Buyer
This tablecloth is a classic example of a "parade linen", intended for special occasions or for collectors of antique textiles. The mere lacework requires hundreds of hours of patient manual labor, making each piece unique.
Summary Assessment
Rarity: High (due to intact seals).
Artisanal quality: Excellent
