Description from the seller

The work derives from the Laos / Northern Thailand area and can be traced to the artistic tradition of the Lan Xang kingdom. The statue was made using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, in multiple pieces (head, body, and base separate), with substantial bronze thickness and a natural, stratified patina formed over time. The lotus-flower base is perforated with ritual openings, typical of Southeast Asian votive sculptures, used for offerings or incense. The facial features, spiraled-curl hairstyle, high ushnisha, and elongated proportions are consistent with a production datable to the 19th century. Conditions: good conservational condition for an antique object, with oxidations, signs of use and wear compatible with age and function. No evident modern restorations. An authentic collectible object, of historical and artistic interest, belonging to the Buddhist tradition of Southeast Asia.
