Beautiful and stylish oil on paper by the Dutch/Belgian painter Jean Laudy (Venlo, May 4, 1877 – Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, February 6, 1956).
Jean Laudy (Venlo, 4 May 1877[1] - Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, 6 February 1956) was a Dutch-Belgian painter, watercolourist and draftsman. He was a court painter to the Belgian Royal Household.
After attending regular schools, he settled in Brussels at the age of twenty and studied at the painting academies there and in Antwerp.
In his early period he was influenced by Impressionism. Laudy painted portraits, landscapes and still lifes. Exhibitions of his work took place, among others, in Venlo (1937) and Brussels (retrospective exhibition, 1949).
