Description from the seller

Antique, brand-new sheet - never used - in ancient flax/hemp fabric with substantial cutwork embroidery. This fabric was made by hand on an old loom. Because in the 1800s the loom of that era was not wide, the sheet was constructed from three pieces then joined by hand with invisible threads. The importance of this sheet also lies in the hands that stitched the pieces together with a thousand stitches, yet invisible. A fabric so precious, destined to last for years and years, cool in summer and warm in winter, today it no longer exists. The sheet features a fold with the classic handmade openwork stitch, then enriched with rich cutwork embroideries. This sheet comes from a grand dowry of the noble Aragonesi (D'Aragona). The measurements are generous and – given the dense texture of the fabric – it can also be used as a magnificent bedspread. Today there is no longer any embroiderer who can do this type of triple cutwork embroidery due to its complexity and the length of such work, which is priceless.
