Sergio Dangelo (Milan, 1932 – Milan, 2022) was an Italian painter and illustrator. In the early 1950s, he co-founded, with Enrico Baj, the Nuclear Painting Movement, a movement that included many artists such as Joe Colombo, Gianni Dova, Piero Manzoni, and Franco Palumbo. Dangelo's nuclear painting stems from a reflection on modernity, increasingly focused on atomic research; the aim is to reconstruct a hypothetical nuclear landscape through extensive experimentation with materials and techniques. His participation in group exhibitions includes the Venice Biennale, the Paris Biennale, the Milan Triennale, and in 1986, the XI Rome Quadriennale. He also exhibited in Venice in 1958, 1964, 1966, 1972, 1980, and 1986, with a solo room in 1966. This painting, dating from the 1960s, depicts an abstract figure that is a must in his works, which have made him famous and significant. Signed at the bottom center.
