Title: Landscape near Mijas (Andalusia)
Technique: Oil on panel (wood/masonite)
Dimensions: 33 cm x 41 cm

Description:
For sale is an authentic, light-filled landscape study by the prominent Spanish-French painter Pedro Ribera. The work shows the characteristic view of the Mijas mountain range in Andalusia.
Ribera, a master of Post-Impressionism and a pupil of Léon Bonnat, here captures the shimmering heat and the particular light of southern Spain. With a confident, thick brushstroke (Impasto) he sketches the barren rocks and the Mediterranean vegetation. Particularly noteworthy is Ribera's characteristic signature, in which the initials are artfully interwoven.
Works by Ribera are represented in international collections and known for their atmospheric density. This panel painting is a classic example of his plein-air painting (outdoor painting) from his extensive travels through his Spanish homeland.
Condition:
In good original condition for its age. The colors are vivid and well preserved. The painting support (panel) is stable.
