Two very decorative and authentic antique coffee roasters, made of hand-hammered copper and mounted on original wooden bases with a fire chamber. These roasters were traditionally used for roasting green coffee beans over charcoal or glowing embers, before grinding and brewing the coffee. Also known as copper smorre's.
Both specimens are equipped with a long metal shaft with which the pot could be moved during firing to ensure uniform firing. In the wooden base there is space for fuel and ash collection; in one specimen the original metal ash tray is still present.
Period: 19th century – early 20th century
