The Titanic script review by Amy Kimmelman at Walt Disney / Touchstone Pictures represents a fascinating historical artifact in Hollywood film development. Amy Kimmelman, recognized as an expert script analyst, was tasked with evaluating James Cameron’s screenplay before production approval. Her review would have assessed elements like character development, narrative structure, pacing, and commercial viability—critical factors for a major studio deciding whether to invest in such an ambitious and expensive project.

These were documents sent back to Lightstorm Entertainment for their consideration, as the studio had requested an analysis of this May 7th, 1996 version of the script.

Titanic is a 1997 American epic romance and disaster film directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. Incorporating both historical and fictionalized aspects, it is based on accounts of the sinking of the RMS Titanic and stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage. The film also features Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Victor Garber, and Bill Paxton.

Our scripts come directly from the USA. They are easy to recognize because they have the standard U.S. paper size. Typically, people use A4-sized paper (297mm in height) to make fan copies of scripts. This paper size is not used in the United States; they use letter-sized paper (279mm in height). This is noticeable because this scripts usually have black lines at the top and bottom, showing that the original paper size used to copy (any American script) is smaller than A4.

Also, our scripts have been preserved under the strictest climate control standards in HVAC-R conditions, both during storage and throughout the packaging process. As a result, a label is applied after sealing them, as shown in the photos. They are bound in the same way that vault copies of scripts are preserved, without any oxidizable materials that could damage the paper. They are carefully packed in bubble wrap and placed in a cardboard box to ensure they arrive in the best possible condition.
