Description from the seller
The King of Opals:
From my personal collection Opalwanted I bring you this spectacular and vibrant Australian black opal — green-blue flame with red testimony.
This oval cabochon of black opal presents a vibrant and deep play of color: intense greens and inky blues dominate the surface, with red and orange flashes emerging as witnesses of fire. The stone has been hand-polished to reveal its internal scene with maximum dignity.
Origin: Australia (Lightning Ridge)
Type: Natural black opal, untreated
Form: Oval cabochon
Play of color: Very lively, visible from multiple angles
Ideal use: High jewelry, collection, or as a testimony stone
This opal is not offered as a mere gemstone, but as an act of recognition. A contained flame, ready to be mounted or kept as a ritual scene.
- Origin: Australia
- Precious stone with a dark base.
- Vibrant and striking play of colors.
- Color: Black and Multicolor
- Weight: 7.18 Ct
- Measurements: 15 mm x 11 mm x 7 mm
It is said that the ancient Greeks believed opal to be Zeus’s solidified tears, fallen from Olympus upon beholding the beauty of the universe. In Roman mythology, it was said that this gem contained the hope of all colors, a fragment of the rainbow trapped in stone.
This black opal, with red, green, and blue flashes, seems to guard within its interior the fire of Prometheus, the glow of Aphrodite’s stars, and the depth of Hades’ mysteries. Each flash is like a myth revived: an unseen universe that reveals itself only to those who contemplate it with reverence.
It is not just a gemstone; it is a legendary talisman, a symbol of power, protection, and ancestral magic. A jewel worthy of emperors and heroes, ready to find a new guardian in this auction.
