Description from the seller
Pontiac Firebird Trans Am W72 “Bandit” – Black & Gold – Partly Restored – EU Ready
GENERAL:
A true American icon from the golden era of muscle cars. This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am W72 is a genuine factory Black & Gold example — not a clone and not a tribute. The car has been partly restored while carefully preserving its originality and character, offering the ideal balance between collector appeal and enjoyable drivability.
The odometer shows (1)04,385 miles. The vehicle presents exceptionally well and has benefited from cosmetic and interior refurbishment, while maintaining its authentic factory identity.
BODY & PAINT:
Finished in its legendary black with gold Trans Am graphics, the paintwork is in excellent condition with a deep gloss and sharp detailing. The car has a strong visual presence without being over-restored, retaining its original character.
It sits on its original Snowflake wheels, further enhancing its authentic appearance. The underside is clean and solid and has been professionally undercoated for long-term protection.
TECHNICAL:
Under the hood is the desirable W72-code 400 cubic inch (6.6L) High Output V8, engine code X7, factory rated at 220 horsepower. It is paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes. The W72 package was the most powerful drivetrain available for the 1978 model year, making this example especially desirable among collectors. The vehicle is turnkey and delivers the unmistakable late-1970s muscle car experience.
INTERIOR:
The deluxe custom interior has been refreshed while staying true to factory style and specification. The dashboard, headliner, carpeting, door panels, and sill plates have been renewed, along with additional interior trim components.
Factory features include power windows, a tilt steering wheel, and factory tinted glass. The cabin presents clean, fresh, and period-correct, offering comfort, functionality, and authenticity.
DOCUMENTS:
The car comes with a US title. EU import duties have been paid. Dutch registration is possible, with optional German or Belgian registration available. Worldwide shipping can be arranged.
COLLECTION & DELIVERY:
European transport or worldwide shipping can be organized upon request.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a genuine Trans Am W72 in its most iconic specification, partly restored while retaining its authenticity. A strong and honest driver with real collector appeal and unmistakable presence.
If desired, I can also tailor this description for auction platforms such as Bring a Trailer or international dealer listings.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
