About the Zaalberg company
The Zaalberg company was founded in 1898 in Leiderdorp and grew into one of the better-known Dutch producers of household and decorative earthenware.
In the postwar reconstruction period after World War II, Zaalberg played an important role in the production of affordable, solid and aesthetically responsible earthenware for a broad public. The designs from the 1950s and 60s are characterized by functional forms, soft natural tones and subtle glazes – entirely in line with the then-modernist living culture in the Netherlands.
