Marantz - pm-66SE Solid state integrated amplifier

Magnificent integrated amplifier in excellent aesthetic and functional condition. Serviced, carefully cleaned in every part, extensively tested (it has long been in my collection) and complete with the original remote control.

Take a close look at the images of this integrated amplifier: how would you define it? Elegant is perhaps the first word that comes to mind and is indeed the most accurate. Yes, because this splendid Marantz amplifier, produced during the period when the brand was controlled by Philips, is truly elegant electronics: it is elegant from an aesthetic point of view and from a sonic one.

The attribute “Special Edition” refers to the use of selected components and the design choice to deliberately forego anything that is not necessary (tone controls, loudness, a second pair of speakers, to name a few), to focus exclusively on sound quality and give this successful electronics an audiophile cut. If, when off, the PM-66SE gives an impression of elegance and solid construction (real quality, not just perceived), once turned on it confirms the first impression, delivering a classy listening experience: pleasant, detailed and at the same time endowed with a velvet softness, yet capable of pushing when needed. The 50W power (which becomes 70W into 4 ohms) allows easy driving of the speakers; the soundstage appears well defined and is accompanied by pronounced musicality with both digital and analog sources (the MM phono stage performance is very enjoyable).
