Description from the seller
Elegant Goblet with Silvered Metal Lid – Imperial Style with Monogram and Lion Head Finishes – Mid-20th Century
Description
Overview
Refined ornamental goblet with lid (likely a sugar bowl or a condiment holder) made of high-quality silver-plated metal. The piece stands out for the richness of decorative details and for the presence of an engraved monogram, which underlines noble provenance or ceremonial use.
Aesthetic Details
Body and Decorations: The central body is decorated with a band of geometric motifs engraved. On the sides are applied two handles in the shape of lion heads with hanging ring, typical of Neoclassical or Imperial taste.
Lid: The lid is topped by a meticulous figure of a bird (probably a falcon or an eagle), which serves as a pull knob.
Monogram: Fron tally there is an elegant cursive engraving with the initials "S" and "L", enclosed in a finely worked laurel wreath.
Stamps and Material
On the base there is the punch mark "CAP". This mark indicates that the object is made of Silver Plate (silver-plated metal, usually on a copper base or nickel alloy). The current patina displays the characteristic iridescent oxidations typical of vintage plated metal, which confer authentic historic charm to the piece.
Condition
The item is in good vintage condition. It shows a natural patina of age and light wear of the plating in the most raised areas, which testify to its age and original use. It does not have significant dents. (Please view the photos carefully for details on surface condition).
