2 volumes in-8, half-calf (722 pp; 689 pp), smooth spine, gilt tooling and volume labels on burgundy morocco, marbled edges. Boards worn and edges worn (volume 1), heads in good condition, lower joints split for 4 cm and 2 cm (volume 1), upper joint split for 5 cm (volume 2); small angular loss on the last page of the binding (volume 2). Complete with its 14 plates (12 in volume 1 and 2 in volume 2).
Pioneer of medico-legal toxicology, Orfila would teach chemistry at the Athénée de Paris from 1819, in place of Jacques Thénard.
Good condition of the bindings, volumes in their brown half-calf of the period, wear from use, corners and heads worn, small crack on one joint, spine with raised bands, marbled edges, titles and tomaisons in gold on red morocco pieces -
Good interior condition, volumes with 14 plates hors-texte engraved at the end.
